INSTRUCTORS
Meet our industry partners and instructors.
Marco – Founder/Lead Instructor
My passion to learn this new skill-set started back in 2010, but as many who entered the “shooting world” near that era, online content such as YouTube and/or social media wasn’t as active or around that time, so researching about a specific instructor or class was mostly dependent on word or mouth from local industry partners or friends. Classes and instructions were quite different then what they are today. Certain techniques and/or drills were basic in nature and sometimes “out-dated” as some instructors with only the basic certification or knowledge weren’t updating themselves with new training. For those who remember the Magpul Dynamics DVDs around 2011, at that time it was a big hype which shared techniques still used today, it opened peoples mind on different types of training and also techniques. With that, I began seeking training in pistol and rifle platforms, and realized that the more classes you take, even if it was the same instructor and/or same class description, example: Pistol 1, there was always something new to learn.
I devoted the next 6 years in training CCW (concealed carry), specifically inside the waist band. My urge to gain knowledge only grew as I spent time taking classes with several different esteemed instructors with different backgrounds, ranging from competition shooting to “tactical” classes, as well as reading, and studying the topic. As I started to pass along the knowledge I’ve gained with family and friends, I realized that acquiring the “Golden Nugget of Knowledge” (quote by Ernest Langdon) was more difficult the more knowledge/classes/study you take. I started to develop simple drills and teaching methods that simplified and were more understanding for my family and friends. While still on this never-ending journey of knowledge in shooting, I had the privilege of meeting great people throughout the USA and Brazil. I finally decided to open RED 9 INTERNATIONAL, with the idea of connecting USA to Brazil, and vice-versa, by putting together a team in which offered training in several different fields, ranging from Shooting, First-aid, self-defense and more.
Nowadays, being a Law Enforcement officer assisted me in creating specific drills and classes that would better assist and relate to officers in the field. From competition style shooting, to personal protection and duty, a lot of my techniques are giving tribute to the industry’s best competitors/instructors, credit to instructors like JJ Racaza, Ben Stoeger, Ernest Langdon, Andrade (Acombat), Max Michel and others. Throughout the years in having RED 9 International open and operating, I’ve been on the hunt to create a team in which could provide their specific services to the community. Each instructor/company below carry their own weight in their specific curriculum.

RED9 CIRCLES DRILL
Test your fundamentals in a more dynamic and fun drill. This low round count drill will test several skill sets into one drill. You start off with a draw and fire your first round into the middle (large) circle. After that, you will need to hit each small circle once, totaling 9 rounds. The order? there is none! That’s the difference with this drill. There is no right or wrong way to do it, there is no set order or combination, all you need to follow is only 1 rule, alternate between the small (grey/white) circles. Complete it clean in class under 7 seconds and earn a large grey RED9 patch. Complete it under 6 seconds and earn the Multicam Black hat.
RED9 11Z
Great overall drill to test several skill sets while utilizing your rifle and pistol. This drill has the main objective to force your hold overs (mechanical offset), weapons transition, target transition, cadence and reloads. This drill will push your fundamentals and is a great cold start drill. This drill can also be used as a warmup. Completing this drill clean, in class, below 20 seconds earns a large RED9 gray patch.
RED9 B8 STANDARDS
Have you ever gone to the range and did not know what to work on, no idea what targets or drills to do? At the last minute, you see yourself searching online for ideas or drills? Well, this is the drill for you. We spent a few years gathering some all around drills that we believe are beneficial, especially for new shooters and/or Law Enforcement officers to work on. These are simple, isolated drills, mashed up in a easy sequence to follow. The idea is NOT to run this drill multiple times on the same range session, but to test your overall skill and level. Write down each time of your drills inside the provided boxes and save or take a picture of your target to compare your progress. The drill itself has all the steps listed.
RED9 B8 WHITE
Simple B8 target, all we did was just make the center circles gray. This helps to see your hits from the 25 yards easier. We also added some small circles in the corner for different drills or warmups. This is probably one of the most used targets throughout, besides the standard USPSA/IDPA targets. There are several different standards to try and reach and push yourselves. RED9 currently does not have any standard drills with this target, but a good starting point to test your precision and trigger press (marksmanship), would to shoot it at 25 yards and reach 90 points or above.
RED9 B8 CLEAR
Following the size of the B8 target, we developed this simple target to be shot mainly with rifle. By not having any other target distractions, this helps to focus more on the overall drill with hits inside the total ring.
GEARS/CADENCE
Simple target to be used with both rifles and pistols. The idea is to simulate a small (hard) target and a big (easy) target. The same concept is achieved with several targets at different distances. If your range is limited to distance, this target is for you. It can be used in a variety of configurations. The goal is just to change gears/cadence when switching from a big target to a small, or vice versa.
RIFLE 10 YARD ZERO
This original target and concept was created by Frank Proctor and Matt from Jerking the trigger. You can search their target in Google also. After utilizing their target for years, I realized that while zeroing more than 1 rifle, I would need to stack several targets as I would use the squares to fine tune the zero. With that, all I did was to add more squares. This target should be put at 10 yards away, your POA (Point of Aim), the DOT, should be placed on the black circle, your POI (Point of Impact), the round, should hit the gray circle. After that, fine tune the zero by putting the POA on any intersection of the squares, the POI should hit right below it. After you are done, go confirm and fine tune if necessary at the 50 yard range.
PISTOL 3Y ZERO RED9/ACOMBAT
Struggling to get a good zero utilizing the 10 yard zero targets out there? Well, this was developed alongside my buddy Andrade from ACOMBAT. The goal was to simplify and shorten the process of zeroing your pistol with a quick “rough” zero from 3 yards. This target was tested with several different redots with great outcome. We were able to achieve a close enough zero that would hit the center (reduced b8) target with no modifications. Make sure to set the target at your own eye/gun level from 3 yards. POA (Point of Aim), the redot, should be on the black circle, and the POI (Point of Impact), the round, should hit right below on the grey circle. Always confirm your zero at 25 yards.
RIFLE ZERO 8s TARGET
Do you really know your rifle holds? Test yourself with this target, do it individually or as a group. This is a great target to test your different rifles and zeros from different distances. As this is a new RED9 target, we currently do not have a time standard for a gray patch. Besides the distances and positions detailed in the target, you can create your own and test yourself.
T9 RIFLE DRILL
Great challenging rifle drill with 2 versions. The target utilizes the HIT FACTOR scoring method, seen on USPSA and IDPA competitions. This will help you gauge the Speed / Accuracy of your performance. With the drills low round count, you can redo it a few times in the same range session to save and improve your work. All the target descriptions and versions are printed on the target itself. Version 1 can be run as a group (just counting the points), as Version 2 is focused on a single shooter as you will run up range, turn and shoot. This target does not have a Par Time yet.
RIFLE B8
Great target with several different drill opportunities to shoot while using your rifle. This is a new paper drill with official RED9 patch drills coming soon. For now, test yourself at different distances while incorporating movement from different stations. Add the points and time. Have fun!
